Hello, I'm Min-gael.

As the groom has a car, there are more and more jobs to drive for a long time.

Sometimes I drive for 5 to 6 hours a day, and as the season goes into winter, I stopped by the maintenance center several times.

You will drive long distances during the holidays, so I researched things that need to be checked in advance.

Tyre Inspection

Because tires are mainly made of rubber, hardening occurs over time.

Recommended replacement cycle: 30,000 km or 5 years mileage

Periodic inspection cycle: every 1 to 2 months

  • Keep the air pressure at around 80%.
  • If the air pressure is too high, partial wear may occur.
  • Lower air pressure increases rotational resistance and causes steering wheel shaking or tilting.
  • If the driver's door or the fuel inlet has the appropriate tire pressure, adjust the pressure accordingly.
  • Check for wear and tear.
  • Tire wear progresses quickly when driving long distances.
  • Weary tires have a lower braking capacity, increasing braking distance.
  • Water curtain phenomenon can occur in rainy weather or it can be dangerous due to puncture while driving.

Self-inspection method

  • After inserting a 100-won coin into the tire groove with Admiral Yi Sun-shin's face upside down, replace the tire if you see more than half of Admiral Yi Sun-shin's persimmon.
  • If you move your gaze along the protruding triangle mark on the side of the tire, there is a wear limit line. If the wear limit line is similar to the tread on both sides, the tire must be replaced.
  • If there are cracks or cracks on the side of the tire, consult an expert and replace the tire.
  • If there is a large deviation between the left and right tires or a shaking of the steering wheel while driving, consult an expert and proceed with the replacement.

Battery check

If the battery is dead and does not start, call an emergency car insurance call.

Recommended replacement cycle: 50,000 km or 3 years.

Periodic inspection cycle: 10,000 km mileage

Inspection signal

  • The instrument panel displays a battery warning light.
  • When starting the engine, it sounds like galgal, unlike usual.
  • Instrument panels, indoor lights, and headlights went dark. (Battery needs to be checked before replacing the bulb)
  • The horn weakened.
  • The brightness of the headlights varies depending on the degree of acceleration when the accelerator pedal is pressed.
  • The voltage before starting is less than 12V or less than 13V when driving due to black box or automobile internal voltage measurements.
  • The digital clock in the car stays at 1:00. (It is initialized every time the start is turned off)

Self-inspection method

  • Open the bonnet and check the battery indicator (indicator light).
  • Green: Normal
  • Black: Charging required
  • White: Inspection or replacement required
  • Periodically shake off the sky blue or white powder (pollination) that builds up around the battery connection terminal and apply lubricant.
  • It may cause poor contact and cause battery discharge.

Check the brake

brake pad

Periodic inspection cycle: 10,000 km mileage

Inspection signal

  • The braking distance of the brake is delayed more than usual.
  • There is a strange sound like a squeak or a sound like a metal grinding.
  • When stepped on, a break or vibration occurs.
  • When you place your foot on the brake pad, it turns off or is loose. (If it goes in slightly about 5mm, it's normal)

brake fluid

It helps maintain brake braking force.

Recommended replacement cycle: 30,000 km mileage

Self-inspection method

  • Open the bonnet and check the brake fluid reservoir in the engine compartment for oil between Min Line (MIN) and Max Line (MAX).
  • If there is moisture on the back when the lid is opened, it means that the brake fluid has moisture, which can lead to a decrease in brake performance and a sharp decrease in braking power.
  • If the oil is low or the oil color is too dark, replace or replenish it immediately.

Check cooling water

The cooling water serves to cool down the car's engine when it gets hot.

Self-inspection method

  • Open the bonnet to see if the gauge shown in the coolant container is between the minimum line (MIN) and maximum line (MAX).
  • If the coolant is less than the minimum line, a fire can be caused by overheating of the engine.
  • Check the instrument cluster for coolant warning lights or temperature gauges.
  • If the temperature gauge remains fixed at H or C, suspect engine overheating due to insufficient coolant.

Check engine oil

It acts as a lubricant to ensure that the engine works well.

Lack of engine oil can cause the car to fail due to the failure of components in the engine.

Recommended replacement cycle: 10,000 km or 1 year mileage

Self-inspection method

  • With the car turned off, check the condition by inserting and removing the oil check bar into the oil tank.
  • If there is oil between L and F indicated on the bar, there is enough left.
  • If the color is dark brown, it is defective, if it is light brown, it is normal, and if it is yellow, it is in good condition.

Car wash

Getting a View

  • It is important to have a clean view for long-distance driving.
  • If there is dust, foreign matter, or frost on the glass (front glass, side mirror, rear glass) while driving, it may cause a blind spot in the driver's field of view.

Interior cleaning

  • Dust and garbage inside the vehicle can cause respiratory problems for drivers and passengers in the vehicle for long periods of time.

Radar sensor

  • For vehicles with safety devices such as forward thrust warnings or emergency braking, a sensor is located in front of the bumper to detect forward objects.
  • If the sensor is frozen or contaminated, the smart cruise control or emergency braking will not work properly.

Inspection of bulbs

The role of a headlight is very important when driving on quiet national roads or rural roads.

It is difficult to check alone, so visit a maintenance center or check the operation of various bulbs, including brakes, with help from people around you.

safety goods

Keep a fire extinguisher in the car and check the condition of the fire extinguisher once a month.

  • Make sure the pressure gauge instructions are within the normal range (green).
  • Make sure the safety pins are in place behind the fire extinguisher.
  • If it is a pressurized fire extinguisher, lift it upside down and check if you hear the sound of the drug flowing.
  • If there is a sound of a lump falling, it is solidified and unusable.
  • You have to lift it upside down once a month to prevent it from hardening.

Safety tripods and light sticks are provided to prevent secondary accidents.

Efficient fuel economy TIP

We don't start suddenly, accelerate suddenly, or brake suddenly.

Take full advantage of cruise control.

Reduce the weight of your luggage.

Fill up only about 2/3 of the oil.
